Saturday, August 28, 4-7 p.m. St. Peter's Church Hall "The Animals of Oxford"
Public invited to Submit Photos The Historical Society will hold a photo display of animals in Oxford, including livestock, wildlife and pets. The Society will display about a hundred old photos of animals. The public is invited to submit photos to complete the display. Digital photos will be accepted via email at photos@oxford-historical-society.org. Actual photos (4x6 preferred) may be left at the desk of the Oxford Public Library. Persons submitting photos should include the name of the photographer and, if a youth, include their age, as well as an address (including email if available) and phone number for return of the photograph. Entries will be divided into classes of youth and adult. Attendees at the Peach Festival will be given a ballot to indicate their favorite photos in each class Hale Peach Farm in Oxford The History of the Hale Peach Farm will emphasize
the agricultural history of Oxford. J.H. Hale was a successful orchard
owner, whose Connecticut orchards led to the state once being the second
largest producer of peaches, exceeded only by Georgia. Visitors at
the Peach Festival will see photos of the orchards and learn of its history.
Event Features: In addition to the photo displays, there will be videos
of the slides and interviews of older residents shown in the church sanctuary.
Refreshments will include Peach Cobbler and ice cream.

Sixth Annual Spring Cleaning Tag Sale:
Thanks to all who helped make the fund-raiser a success. Led by Chairman
Mrs. Nancy Farnum, Society members spent many hours pricing the vast collection
of items donated by Oxford residents. The funds will be used in final
preparations for opening the Twitchell-Rowland Homestead as a museum.
Society to observe 35th Anniversary:
The Oxford Historical Society will observe its 35th anniversary this summer.
